Walking Through Synaesthesia
Project Type:
Interactive, Digital
Author:
Amy Hitchener
About this Project:
A tangible installation that invites the user into an abstract, artistic interpretation of musical synaesthesia. Musical synaesthesia is a sensory phenomenon where a music genre, tone or instrument is involuntarily translated into a vision of colour, “in the mind’s eye” of the synaesthete. It highlights how we all engage in minor synaesthetic impression and the remarkable nature of this sensory translation process. The act of walking through the installation, allows the audience to be playful, experimental and reflect on their personal and automatic sensory translation process.
