About this Project:
A curated work that uses illustrated data visualisations to address food wastage through the lens of the banana. In Australia, bananas are wasted the most on-farm in comparison to any other fresh fruit. This is a result of strict cosmetic standards and a system that does not add value to out-of-spec bananas.
This looks deeper into the underlying issues of industry by listening to a former farmer, revealing the wasted truths and inspiring children to start their very own banana rescue mission. Edible food waste is increasingly recognised as one of the fundamental obstacles to addressing a wide range of pressing global environmental issues.
